About Us

HILT Black Light Theatre is the only independent black light theatre in Prague with its own permanent stage, located in a unique historical space dating back to the 15th century. Our shows combine the magic of UV lights, silent comedy, poetic storytelling without words, and a strong sense of interaction with the audience. The result is an unforgettable experience that blends mystery, humor, and visual beauty in a way that appeals to both children and adults from all around the world. Founded and directed by Theodor Hoidekr (dancer, actor, choreographer, musician) and Štěpánka Pencová (film, theatre and musical shows actress), HILT black light theatre has performed not only in Prague but also on prestigious stages abroad, including Teatro Nacional in Guatemala for 2,000 spectators and the Bharat Rang Mahotsav festival in India. While we regularly tour internationally, our home stage in Prague remains the heart of our work – an intimate space where every seat feels close to the magic happening on stage. Our signature performance, “Images of Love”, invites the audience on a journey through emotions, imagination, and surprising transformations. Without a single spoken word, the show communicates through visual metaphors, clever illusions, and carefully crafted moments of connection between the performers and the viewers. Each scene offers a different perspective on love – playful, touching, absurd, or dreamlike – all brought to life in the distinctive black light style. Unlike large-scale productions in multiplex theatres, our stage offers an up-close and personal encounter with the art form. Guests are welcomed just 30 minutes before the show, and seating is assigned at the door, ensuring that every visitor enjoys a clear and engaging view. The relaxed and almost party-like atmosphere encourages laughter and openness, but we always ask our audience to remain respectful to their fellow guests and the performers. Photography and filming are not only allowed but encouraged, as long as no flash or bright screens are used.
